Surface coatings in sensitive areas
Epoxy resin system Weicon Food Grade
Weicon
from Münster has developed a special system for coating surfaces in sensitive
areas – Weicon Food Grade.
Weicon Food Grade
Food
Grade is a system for surface coating and is approved by the Ruhr District
Institute of Hygiene for contact with aqueous and fatty foods up to 70 °C. It
has drinking water approval in accordance with BS 6920 and is used both for
coating surfaces and as an adhesive.
The flowable 2-component epoxy resin system has a high proportion of fine mineral fillers. The coating is easy to apply and adheres to a wide variety of surfaces even under mechanical stress. Food Grade has very good chemical resistance and is suitable for coating a wide variety of parts such as pumps, conveyor systems, lifting screws, hoppers, tanks and pipes.
Thanks
to its certification for use in food contact applications, the coating is
suitable for applications in the drinking water sector, in the beverage
industry, in the pharmaceutical industry, in the chemical industry, in
commercial kitchens, bakeries or in food production.
Food
Grade is suitable on its own or in combination with one of the other Wecion
Plastic Metal types for a system build-up.
Plastic Metal
The
term Plastic Metal describes epoxy resin systems, which consist of two
components, a resin and a hardener. Depending on the type, the resin component
is mixed with steel, aluminium powder or mineral fillers, all of which improve
the technical characteristics, such as the compressive strength and thermal
conductivity.
The
epoxy resin system is suitable for a broad range of applications in different
industrial areas.
Plastic Metal can be used, for example, in industrial series production for adhesive bondings, coatings and durable repairs on different materials.
After
mixing the two components, Plastic Metal cures at room temperature to a solid,
metal-like material, which can then be machined. It can be drilled, milled,
sanded or filed, if required.
